Brand new WCVSN website

We wanted to create a resource that all of you, the members of this network, can use. Something that really enhances the network and genuinely contributes to its working, and we wanted something that recognised that WCVSN isn’t about its officer, but the over 100 voluntary organisations and social enterprises that are its members.

We want you to be engaged, informed, commenting, contributing, and connecting to all the other organisations that are your colleagues. As well as having access to all the latest funding info, policy/partner news, and general updates that you’re used to.

So, what have we done to achieve this?

First up is the blog –

....in this you’ll be getting regular updates from me and others on meetings, events, and developments that have been happening, and which you can comment on.

I’m also going to be throwing open the blog to you – the network – to comment or reflect on an issue close to your heart, but more on that to follow!

You’ll also be pleased to hear that my thoughts are going to be a lot smaller from now on.

Events/Calendars

Take a look at the new events page, I think you’ll agree it looks not only pretty smart, but pretty useful as well. Now, you’ll be able to see everything that is happening in the area that might be of interest to you, your organisation, and your service users. Can’t remember what meeting is on and where – just check out the events page. For those of you that organise or participate in groups that you’d like on the calendar, just drop me an email I’ll get it on. We can even put your papers online!

Map/Directory of Members

If you roll over the WCVSN heading you’ll notice two categories called Partners and Partners Map – and this is where you’ll be able to find out who else is a member of the Network and where they are on the map! This will take a while to complete, and I’ll be in touch to progress this.

Documents

This will section will become a library of information and an easily accessible store of info about what’s happening in the sector and in the area.

So, that’s it – go on and have a wee explore, and of course you can let me know what you think by leaving comments on the site

I know this is a bit of an experiment for you and for me, and I know that technology and websites scares the life out of quite a lot of you, but I hope you’ll see the value in giving it a try, and embrace the opportunity to become part of a live community of voluntary sector organisations who are better connected and more informed by using their website to its full potential!
