Skill sharing and resource sharing

As you might remember I was on the hunt for some willing collaborators to get together and look at the idea of how the Network could help to facilitate the sharing of skills and resources between network members.

This week I met with my three new partners (Peter Lavelle Glasgow Wood Recyclying, Neil Lovelock DRC Environment Trust and Gabrielle Macbeth, Glasgow Women’s Library) and we got to work on trying to find a way of making this work.

It wasn’t a straightforward discussion, and it’s clear that there’s no one model of making something like this work, but we know that it’s a great idea and that it's something that people would find useful, so we decided to just try a few ideas and see if you, the rest of the Network, bite!

So here goes:

Trading Places

Got something you’d be happy to lend or would like to sell? Or even some equipment you just want to get rid off – then post it below! From today this blog page can be used by anyone to post the details of any resources or services they’d like to sell, loan or simply get rid off. We’ve started you off with some bits and pieces – now it’s over to you!

I could do with a bit of advice on…..

We need to know what you, member organisations, need a bit of support on, before we can do anything about it. So, we’ve created a poll for you to tell us.

Support means anything from more official advice and support services, to just wanting to have a wee blether with someone about an issue, or needing an objective ear! The categories will be updated on a regular basis and all the input will be used by us to help you get the support you need.

To start us of we're looking at support around managing people and the poll is on the front page of the website

If we don’t get any feedback, then we can’t do anything about it, so go on and get polling.

Business Breakfasts and Late Lunches

One of the things we all agreed on was that personal connections matter! People are more likely to help people they know. So, we decided it was our job to make those connections happen. On Tuesday 1st November and Tuesday 6th December there will be an early or late speed networking meeting which lasts one hour. In that time you’ll get the chance to meet a handful of new people to introduce yourself and your service, and they’ll get to do the same to you – and maybe, just maybe it’ll be the start of a beautiful friendship!

So, there you have it – we want to see the all the skills, knowledge and experience that this Network has being used so that we support each other – we’re giving you the chance to make it happen, now it’s over to you….
