Funding available to support carers access short breaks or respite.

The Scottish Government has established a Short Breaks Fund to help support and sustain carers - including young carers - through enabling better access to short breaks or respite care. £5 million has been awarded to the Short Breaks Fund.

An initial £1M will be allocated before the end of March 2011 with a further annual allocation of £1M being available from April 2011 until April 2015

"The £5 million respite funding over five years will help the voluntary sector to sustain and support carers, help carers continue the life-sustaining work they do and develop innovative short breaks and respite."
