Keynote speakers will include:
- Michael Matheson, Scottish Minister for Public Health
- Gordon Matheson, Leader, Glasgow City Council
- Fiona Garven, Scottish Community Development Centre
Morning Session
The morning session will centre around a Performance by GDA Drivers for Change, celebrating that when disabled people are empowered to participate and drive forward their own lives as well as contribute to the design and delivery of services, the whole community benefits. Many of our 1300+ members are community activists; take part in volunteering, are active in local and national politics, and many are taking more control over their personal care packages as a result of their own resilience and through the support they have received.
The performance and speakers will also highlight some key messages and learning to take forward.
Afternoon
Round Table Discussions and Afternoon Workshops will enable participants to contribute, give their views and work together to come up with ideas towards the developing Independent Living Strategy for Glasgow and ‘Pathways for Change’.
We anticipate an audience of over 300 people, made up of disabled people, their supporters, and representatives from the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
