WCAVSN is a member organisation of small and medium voluntary sector providers in the West Area of Glasgow.

The Network works to provide advice, information and training to the sector and supports organisations to engage with the West and Central & West Community Planning Partnerships.

A key function of the Network is to facilitate the flow of information from key partners to the voluntary sector thereby enabling voluntary organisations to participate effectively in these new structures and ultimately to secure the best possible outcomes for the people who access their services.

The Network is a key resource for organisations on a practical and strategic level, enabling the sector to influence the agenda at a planning level but also enabling the sharing of best practice and the providing of training to ensure that organisations are sustainable and providing the best service they can to their clients.

The Network was started by representatives from 20 voluntary organisations in November 2006.

This was an informal group whose main function was to develop a constitution and to attract funding to employ a development worker. They were successful in both of these areas and the worker started in November 2007.
